Hi Michelle - can you please contact me - gareth.sutton@vodafone.com. I can help.

  • Michelle - 23-2-2011 7:05:18AM

On Monday, 21 February 2011, I received my Vodafone bill that included a charge of $18.20 for a Text Service, 2212. This is news to me, as I have never subscribed to this text service, nor have I authorised this service to charge my mobile provider for this text service. Once a week (every Sunday), this text message service would send me two texts; the first message informs me of the obvious that I am subscripted to their text service, and the second message includes a link to download music. Out of curiosity, I tried the download link but it does not work. Therefore, I am being charge for a text message service that I did not subscripted to, in addition to the fact that, the download link does not even work. At first, I simply ignored these text messages, as I was affair that, once I start initial contacts with them they will start charging me. Eventually, on Sunday, 20 February 2011 I texted the word “stop” back to 2212. I have tried calling the phone number given to me by Vodafone (0800 304 325) to query this matter, only to be told that there is nothing they can do about it, and that my only option is to send an email to support.nz@timwe.com, which I had. Initial email contacts with this text message service are clear that, they do not intend to refund me the amount $18.20. In addition to contacting this text message service, a formal letter of complaint has also been sent to Vodafone’s Complaint Department (Auckland) regarding this matter. Although the amount is small, it is the principal that I do not like to be bully into paying for something that I did not receive. What I would like is a refund of $18.20, in addition to any partial charges made during this month billing cycle. I am very disappointed and disguised at what has happened to me; this is clearly a fraudulent text spam service. I did not subscribed to this text message service, nor have I ever received any products/services through this service.

This is definitely spam, costs me 6$ after two days! You can stop by texting "stop" to 2212.

  • C Hayes - 5-11-2010 9:21:19AM

Unsolicited texts from 2212 cost me $6.00 a time. Texting 'stop' to number only came back with the reply that I didn't have a subscription. Last time I texted they cancelled subscription and charged $3.00. Does anyone know how to stop these texts for good?

  • Michael - 3-11-2010 8:30:24PM
